The FMG6AT148 is a Transistors - Bipolar (BJT) - Arrays, Pre-Biased device. It is an integrated 6-Bit transistor with an array of 8 pre-biased transistors intended for functionality in general purpose digital circuits.The FMG6AT148 is manufactured from a silicon wafer and has two main functions, namely; it represents 6-bits of logic and provides pre-biased transistors. It hence combines both the capabilities of a logic IC and the reliability and benefits of pre-biased transistors. The FMG6AT148 is designed to be packed in both a 20-pin plastic dual in line package (DIP) and leadless chip carrier (LCC).The pre bias on each of the transistors in the array of eight is set to ¾ Vcc. This allows the power dissipation in each transistor when in the ON state to be greatly reduced. This device can be used in a variety of applications which need to reduce power dissipation in their logic circuits. Examples include low power oscillators, logic gates, counters and display drivers. A few of these are examined in the following sections. Low Power OscillatorsBecause the power dissipation in the transistor is greatly reduced, FMG6AT148 can be used to design a low power oscillator that is highly efficient and robust. One such example of an oscillator is a NE555 timer; this is a simple example of a relaxation oscillator which uses two transistors and two resistors for its configuration. The FMG6AT148 can be used to substitute the two transistors along with their corresponding resistors. The use of pre-biased transistors reduces the power dissipated by the transistors in the circuit. This results in a reduction in the overall power dissipated by the oscillator, making it a low power device.Logic GatesFMG6AT148 has applications when used as logic gates. It can be used to implement any combinational logic gate such as AND, OR or NOT gates. This device is also suitable for use in sequential logic gates such as D-type, JK and T-type flip flops. Because the pre bias on each transistor is set to ¾ Vcc, power dissipation during the ON state is significantly reduced. This makes it ideal for implementation in digital circuits where power dissipation has to be taken into consideration. CountersFMG6AT148 can be used in the development of 4-bit counter circuits. A 4-bit counter is made up of four logic gates, each of which have one input and one output. The output of each logic gate is connected to the input of the next logic gate in the circuit. The FMG6AT148 can be used to implement each of the 4 individual logic gates, resulting in a significant reduction in power dissipation by the transistors. Display DriversFMG6AT148 can be used as a display driver for LCD and LED displays. It provides 8-bits of logic and hence can be used to drive 8 displays . Because the pre bias on each transistor is set to ¾ Vcc, power dissipation during the ON state is significantly reduced. This is much more efficient than having individual transistors for driving each display and reduces the overall power required for operating the display. In conclusion, the FMG6AT148 is an effective and versatile device that can be used for a variety of applications.It combines the features of integrated logic gates with pre-biased transistors, which can be used to significantly reduce power dissipation.
