The FSDM0365RL is an offline switching power supply control integrated circuit designed to offer highly efficient and reliable power solutions to a wide range of applications. It uses advanced technology to provide a cost effective and efficient AC-DC converter solution for power conversion. The device also has simple and robust protection features to protect the equipment from load and line transients.The FSDM0365RL integrates power MOSFETs drive resistors, start resistors, noise reduction capacitors and protection diodes to reduce the number of external components, thus saving design time and cost. The power MOSFETs drive current spreads very thin, resulting in higher efficiency and tighter output voltage regulation. Furthermore, the chip has low power dissipation, enabling it to be used in smaller package.The FSDM0365RL provides high efficiency, low cost and small size solutions for applications like LED lighting, LED TVs, Set-top boxes, GSM/CDMA base station, and digital products. The device helps reduce the size and cost of power supplies for these applications. The device also supports both pulsewidth modulation (PWM) and resonant modes, thus allowing flexible system design for the application.The application circuit of the FSDM0365RL is a single ended forward converter. It consists of the MOSFET, output diode and the PWM controller. The input of the PWM controller is the AC line voltage, the output is the voltage across the sense resistor in the circuit. The PWM controller adjusts the gate drive current of the upper MOSFET and the gate drive current of the lower MOSFET. When the upper MOSFET is conducting, it allows current flow to the output capacitor and raises the output voltage. The output diode and the lower MOSFET act as the synchronous rectifier, to rectify the voltage across the output capacitor. The PWM controller regulates the output voltage by modulating the gate drive current of the upper MOSFET.The FSDM0365RL features a range of protection features to protect the system from overload, over drain current, power malfunction, short circuit and thermal shutdown. It also has an over voltage protection (OVP) to protect from high output voltage.
