FST16230A is a new generation of low voltage, low and medium power fast switching Rectifier array. It has extremely low conduction loss and strong anti-reverse surge capability. It is extensively used in power converters, lightweight battery charger, battery and charger control, general DC-DC converters and other discontinuous conduction mode type circuits. In addition to the features of high power, low forward voltage drop and low switching and conduction loss, FST16230A also provides excellent parameter uniformity, high ESD withstand voltage, superior thermal stability and extreme low switching loss, a feature that is valuable to those circuits where the most efficiencies is desired.The work principle of FST16230A is the same as that of most other rectifier arrays. When the voltage level at the anode of the device exceed that at the cathode, a large enough electric field will be appear in two electrodes. This will cause the create and movement of large numbers of carriers result in the large diode current. Thus, the diode is said to be in its forward conduction region. The FST16230A consists of two series-connected rectifiers in a TO-252 package. As shown in the figure below, each pair consists of two rectifiers A and B, and the active areas are electrically isolated from one another. By using high voltage and low forward voltage drop, FST16230A can increase efficiency and reduce switching losses.FST16230A device is widely used in various systems and applications due to its high efficiency and low operating loss. In portable device, FST16230A is used in both AC-DC and DC-DC topology. It can be used in DC-DC converter to rectify the input voltage, or even as the power semiconductor in buck, boost and other converter topology.
