GFTX-13 Application Field and Working Principle

GFTX-13, also known as Barrier Blocks, is a type of terminal block used in a wide range of applications such as automotive, industrial, medical, consumer electronics, datacom/telecommunications, semiconductor, and multi-port networking. Generally, it is a connection module that provides a means of interconnecting and wiring two separate circuits.

Types and Features of Barrier Blocks

GFTX-13 barrier blocks come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Generally, they are available as single-ended (link) or double-ended (Y-block) versions. The single-ended variety consists of a terminal block with two connection points, and the double-ended version has four connection points. The link block may also feature a variety of different connection points, such as screw terminals, solder lugs, and male/female connectors. Another variety of GFTX-13 barrier blocks is the feed-through type, which features two connection points at either side of the block, allowing for quicker connections.

Other features of barrier blocks include contact ratings up to 30 A, depending on the model, as well as various insulation materials, such as polyamide (PA), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), and fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP). Some models may also feature strain relief for cables and easy disconnectability.

Applications of GFTX-13 Barrier Blocks

GFTX-13 barrier blocks are used in many different types of applications in the automotive, industrial, medical, consumer electronics, datacom/telecommunications, and semiconductor industries. In automotive applications, they are commonly used for wiring headlight and fan control systems. In industrial applications, they are used in assembly line wiring processes. In consumer electronics, they are used as an interconnect component for amplifiers, power supplies, and audio systems. In datacom/telecommunications, they are used in data transmission systems and modems. In semiconductor applications, they are used for testing and prototyping of integrated circuitry.

Working Principle of GFTX-13 Barrier Blocks

GFTX-13 barrier blocks work by providing a means for two separate circuits to be connected and wired together, allowing for the transfer of electronic signals and energy between them. The terminals are inserted into the blocks, and then the two circuits are wired together. Depending on the type of barrier block, the connection may be made via screw terminals, solder lugs, or male/female connectors.

Depending on the type of connection chosen, different levels of voltage or current ratings may be used. High voltage (up to 3000 V AC) and high current (up to 30 A) connections are possible depending on the terminal block chosen. The insulation materials used in the block allow for higher current and voltage ratings, as well as better safety features.
