Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT) are widely used to protect electrical systems from power surges caused by lightning strikes and switching operations. The GTCR38-421M-Q10 is one type of GDT that is specially designed for outdoor applications in high-rise buildings and areas prone to lightning.

The GTCR38-421M-Q10 is composed of spark gap and a gas chamber filled with SF6 (sulphur hexafluoride), and is designed to provide reliable surge protection in high voltage applications up to 780 volts.
