Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT), also known as spark gaps, are devices which limit or protect electronic systems from high voltage surges and direct or alternating current interference.GTCT37-301M-P10 is a type of GDT designed to protect electronic systems from high-voltage interference. It has an electronically regulated electrical current and a reactive gas mixture in its tube which is used to form a short-circuit between two electrodes.In its most basic form, the two electrodes of a GDT are sealed inside a gas-filled glass tube. A high-voltage is applied to the two electrodes, which creates a powerful electric field. This electric field ionizes the gas molecules in the tube, creating electrons and ions excited to a high energy state.These excited particles then accelerate to the opposite electrode, releasing energy in the form of an electric spark or “spark gap”. As the electrons and ions return to their initial energy levels, the electric current is interrupted and the electric field returns to its normal state.The GTCT37-301M-P10 is designed to provide protection against high voltage interference which is outside of the intended operation range of the electronic system it protects.
