Optoisolators, also referred to as optocouplers, are electrical devices used to provide electrical isolation between two electrical circuits, both in terms of voltage and current. The H11A1S1(TB) optoisolator is a type of optoisolator that utilizes a Transistor, Photovoltaic Output, as its main component.

The H11A1S1(TB)\'s main purpose is to safely and reliably transfer signals between two independent circuitry while protecting each circuitry from the other\'s electrical disturbances. The device comprises of a light-emitting diode (LED) and a photosensitive device connected to an output transistor. Through this combination, the LED provides electrical isolation between the two separate electrical circuits.

As its output is "floating", it can be used in both positive and negative ground systems since it has no "ground" connection to either system.
