Optoisolators are simply isolators in which the input is optically coupled to the output. The H11A2-V optoisolator is an example of transistor, photovoltaic output optoisolator. An optoisolator allows electricity to be transferred from one side of the device to the other without any physical connection, thus ensuring isolation and avoiding ground loops or interference.

The H11A2-V optoisolator contains an infrared emitting LED (IRED) and a silicon phototransistor (PT) in one package, as shown in the diagram. The device will provide reliable and low-cost isolation between two circuits. The device is equipped with a 6-pin dual in line package (DIP) that makes it suitable for use in automated assembly processes.
