HAL1860UA magnetic sensors employ a Hall Effect transducer technique to measure and monitor linear, compass and rate parameters. The electrical current is generated by the Electron Hall Effect by the application of a magnetic field.

During operation, the current generated by the Hall Effect interacts with a series of dynamic magnets applied to the interior of the housing of the HAL1860UA sensors, creating Hall voltage proportional to the applied magnetic field strength. The Hall voltage generated in this manner is then used for measuring linear and compass/rate information.

The range of linear measurements for HAL1860UA sensors can reach up to 25 millivolts (mV) per gauss. They are manufactured with a resolution of 0.0004 to 0.02 degrees per count depending on the application. Additionally, HAL1860UA magnetic sensors have an accuracy of 0.1% of full-scale. Furthermore, the compensated temperature range for these devices can theoretically reach from -40°C to +125°C, with actual operational temperatures up to 150°C with additional components.

HAL1860UA sensors are available in various sizes and shapes including board-level, surface-mount and leaded packages. All are designed to be compatible with a wide range of power supplies and can operate in the voltage range of 3.0Vdc to 12.0Vdc.
