It optically isolates a logic signal from the input side (which is connected either to a TTL or an extended voltage compatible logic signal), and switches ON/OFF power transistors on the output side (which can be connected to a load up to 400mA). The logic signal from the input side is optically isolated from the low-voltage output side, with an off-isolation voltage of at least 25kVrms.

The device has very low input signal levels that signal transition is triggered with current as low as 1.2 mA. In addition, the high speed of the device enables it to transfer logic signals with high frequencies up to 150 kHz.
