Common Mode Chokes are important components used in radiofrequency interference (RFI) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) applications. They are used to suppress unwanted electrical signals while allowing desired signals to pass through. The HF2827-183Y1R0-01 is an integrated high frequency common mode choke. This device is designed to reduce differential mode conducted noise and common mode level conducted noise.The HF2827-183Y1R0-01 has a wide application. It features a wide common-mode impedance frequency (2 - 1000 MHz) range and high attenuation in the 400 - 1000 MHz range in particular. This common mode choke offers high temperature operation up to 85°C and strong reliable construction.The working principle for the HF2827-183Y1R0-01 is based on the transmission line principles. At high frequency, a choke is used to minimize the interference effects caused by differential-mode and common-mode signals. Differential-mode signals are affected by the inductance in the winding, while common-mode signals are affected by the capacitance in the winding. This type of choke is constructed with two independent windings, each having both inductance and capacitance. When connected in series, the differential-mode inductance will cause a high impedance to the differential-mode signals, while the common-mode capacitance provides a low impedance path for the common-mode signals. As a result, both differential-mode signals and common-mode signals are suppressed and their effects minimized.In order to maximize the effective common-mode impedance, the HF2827-183Y1R0-01 is designed with a special winding structure. The two windings are designed to be in quadrature, which means that the windings are arranged in a 90 degree angular pattern. This helps to reduce the common-mode capacitance and, in turn, improve the common-mode impedance. Additionally, the device is integrated with an open circuit at both ends to reduce the capacitance.The HF2827-183Y1R0-01 is also designed with a special core material to enhance the common-mode impedance. The core material provides low inter-winding leakage, high permeability, and low hysteresis losses. The winding and core are contained within an injection-molded plastic case that is designed to reduce or eliminate electromagnetic radiation.
