The HI9P0548-5 is a low-power dual analog switch or multiplexer / demultiplexer providing a low-power solution for analog signal switching applications. It is compatible with CMOS and TTL logic systems and is designed to switch either analog signals or digital signals (TTL and CMOS) within a 2.7V to 5.5V quoted supply voltage range.
The analog switcher or multiplexer / demultiplexer features a wide bandwidth design as well as a breakdown voltage of 45V, making it capable and reliable in a variety of applications. It is also suitable for use with AC signals and is offered in a 10-pin ultra small SSOP (Shrink Small-Outline Package) for tight space applications. The HI9P0548-5 analog switch or multiplexer/demultiplexer is commonly used for applications such as analog and digital signal switching for audio devices, video signals, personal electronics, and other consumer products. Working Principle:
The HI9P0548-5 features two channels and has two input / output multiplexers (MUX) as inputs. Each of the MUXs can be two 2-state or three-state signal selectors. The MUXs will select one of two inputs and switch it to the output. The input signals can be either analog or digital signals, depending on the MUX channel type.
The chip is enabled with an enable pin. When enabled, the multiplexer will switch the signal from one input to the other. When disabled, the signal will remain at the same output as when it was enabled. There is also a polarity control pin that reverses the logic levels of the input when enabled. The analog channels feature an enable pin as well, which will allow the multiplexer to switch an analog signal from one input to the other. When disabled, the signal will remain at the same input as when it was enabled.
The HI9P0548-5 also features a slew rate control pin. This pin is used to limit the rate of change of the output signal. This can be used to prevent noise and interference in applications that require high signal accuracy. With the slew rate control pin, the chip can switch between inputs at up to 20ns, depending on the supply voltage.
