The HIP6004DCRZ-T is a high-power deep down-converter regulator designed to deliver highly reliable power output from the central voltage processor (CVP) in computer systems. This product is incorporated in an advanced microchip structure with an integrated power converter and three-phase controller to ensure optimal performance. It offers a high level of integrated protection and a wide operating range, making it suitable for applications like processor cores, system logic and main memory in server and workstation systems.The HIP6004DCRZ-T is equipped with a single-phase, 1.25 V to 3.3 V voltage regulator operating in synchronous buck-mode. Its power efficiency exceeds 90% and it provides a continuous output current of up to 8 A. The device features an excellent transient response time of 2 µs and a bandwidth of 19 kHz. It has adjustable output voltage for controlling the power output of the CVP. In addition, it is designed to work with an external N-channel power MOSFET to ensure best efficiency performance and provide an adjustable operating frequency.In addition, the HIP6004DCRZ-T also features power-good (PGD) monitoring and soft-start circuitry for fast and smooth startup. It is designed to detect under/overvoltage conditions and provide protection against short-circuits and over-temperature conditions. The integrated precision internal current limit works to prevent any sudden increase in current consumption.The HIP6004DCRZ-T uses advanced power management techniques to balance the competing demands of voltage regulation, current consumption and system reliability. These techniques involve power management algorithms running on the controller to set the desired output voltage. This voltage is then compared to the output voltage and the difference used to adjust the regulation voltage. When the output voltage falls below the desired value, the internal power MOSFET driver reduces the output voltage. The controller then steps up the voltage by switching off the power MOSFET. Conversely, if the output voltage exceeds the desired value, then the power MOSFET is again switched off and the output voltage is reduced.The HIP6004DCRZ-T offers superior performance, reliable power delivery and optimal system efficiency.
