RF Mixers are electronic devices that convert an AES/EBU audio signal from digital to analog form, or vice versa. Mixers often serve as analog-to-digital or digital-to-analog converters and provide additional functions such as signal amplification or signal routing. The HMC665LP4ETR is a high performance, low power RF Mixer designed for use in a variety of RF applications in the cellular, Wi-Fi, Zigbee and other wireless protocols. Its features include low insertion loss, low harmonic distortion, high isolation, and wide bandwidth.The HMC665LP4ETR is composed of an RF input stage, an actual complex mixer, an output buffer, and a power supply. The RF input stage consists of an RF input port, input termination circuitry, and an input buffer. The impedance of the RF input port, the action of the termination circuitry, and the gain of the input buffer are all designed to match the input requirements of the mixer. The mixer is composed of an active, two-port mixer constructed on a GaAs process. The output buffer follows the mixer and is responsible for providing a low impedance output. Finally, a power supply provides the appropriate power to the other active components in the mixer.The primary application field of the HMC665LP4ETR is in telecommunication systems where signal conversion is required. Examples of these systems include cellular and cordless phone systems, Wi-Fi systems, and Zigbee systems.
