HMC820LP6CETR is a multi-output oscillator/frequency synthesizer designed for high-performance timing, low jitter and fast locking with a wide output frequency range. It is capable of providing up to six independent outputs and provides clock frequencies from sub-Hz up to 1600 MHz. The HMC820 can support combined channels with different reference frequencies to ensure fast synthesis in the sub-1GHz range with only two channels.
HMC820LP6CETR is a highly integrated clock/timing solution for system applications using advanced frequency synthesis technologies, with features such as digitally-controlled externally-programmable frequency control, high resolution dividers, wide frequency range, low power requirements and fast locking time. It is an ideal solution for applications such as clock/timing distribution in high-end communications, networking and storage systems, local oscillator applications, embedded systems and AI/ML processing.
HMC820LP6CETR is designed to provide highly-accurate clock/timing source for mission-critical applications requiring tight phase and frequency control at very high output frequency range. The HMC820 chip provides up to six programmable high-frequency references, with each ref output having a resolution of four bits and frequency range of 2× (ref output frequency). The HMC820 also features adjustable I/O buffering and timeout system based on calibrated leakage currents, to ensure that its clock references remain stable and accurate over the temperature range.
HMC820LP6CETR has two operating modes: frequency synthesis mode and dual-channel divider mode. In frequency synthesis mode, the HMC820 allows users to program any frequency level between 32 Hz and 1600 MHz. This is done by providing a reference frequency and a configurable frequency range. In dual-channel divider mode, the HMC820 allows users to achieve any frequency level between 2× reference frequency and 800 MHz, regardless of the reference frequency. In both modes, frequencies are generated by dividing down from a reference frequency, with each output being configurable in terms of multi-setting resolution and frequency range.
HMC820LP6CETR also features low noise auto-calibration for better accuracy and noise performance. This feature allows the output frequency to be accurately locked to the reference frequency with a wider operating temperature range. The HMC820 also features pre-programmed profiles, so that users can quickly program their desired system frequency without having to manually configure their desired parameters.
