ICE3AS02 is a 3-phase bridge full bridge Soft-Switching PFC controller, integrated current-mode control and 600V high voltage power MOSFET.

It is designed to control the full-bridge rectifier circuit to improve the overall system efficiency and reduce the input power factor correction (PFC) while at the same time complying with the harmonic standards. This IC features low timing complexity, low switching losses, fast over-current protection, low jitter, and minimal external components.

The application fields of ICE3AS02 include Line Input PFC, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Server Supply, Battery Chargers, Solar Energy Inverters and Lighting Inverters. It can be used in AC/DC and DC/DC topologies and is suitable for 3.3V - 600V systems.

The working principle of ICE3AS02 is based on the full wave PFC boost rectifier. Its integrated current-mode PFC controller allows for wide line input voltage range AC/DC or DC/DC applications up to 600V. ICE3AS02 implements a low inductance U-shaped full bridge that can reduce switching losses and generate output current with lower EMI. It is combined with a startup cell, which lets the PFC start up into the soft-switching mode and thus reduce input rectified current harmonic distortion while improving efficiency. The low inductance U-bridge also reduces the system startup costs.

As for current sensing and protection, the ICE3AS02 employs dual split 22mΩ current sense resistors to sense the across inductor current for a fast over-current protection and minimize the switching losses. The under voltage lockout (UVLO) and the reset input pin are provided for external circuit protection.

Finally, ICE3AS02 supports precise pulse width modulation (PWM) up to 95% duty cycle driving range, precise current mode control, burst mode and power factor correction with an optimized switching frequency range of 35 to 500kHz.
