The IDT5T940-30NLGI is an integrated low-jitter clock generator designed to reduce system design complexity, cost and size. This package measures 8.1mm x 8.5mm and provides six programmable clock outputs and one general purpose I/O for up to 30 different output frequency option up to 1.25GHz. This device is recommended for general purpose applications, like supercomputing, network infrastructure and network timing. It is also used in the high-performance embedded computing systems, such as servers and data centers.

The IDT5T940-30NLGI application field covers clock and timing applications with a wide range of output frequencies. It supports extended and/or low voltage for high performance application as well as low-jitter operation. This device can be used to generate precise clock references for applications which require a reliable source of precise frequency, like networking, telecommunications and industrial control systems.

Working Principle:

The IDT5T940-30NLGI is a clock generator that uses a PLL to generate precise frequency output. This device is designed to generate six outputs with a wide range of output frequency options to suit various application needs. The user can program the frequency of the output clock signal by adjusting the phase-locked loop frequency of the generator. This phase locked loop frequency will determine the output frequency of the device. The device is also capable of driving outputs at voltage levels between 1.2V and 3.3V and can provide any output signal up to 1.25 GHz.

The device utilizes a mixed-signal design with an on-board oscillator as the reference signal. This oscillator is used to generate a precise frequency signal for the purpose of reducing jitter and noise in the output signal. The jitter performance of the IDT5T940-30NLGI is typically 0.75ps peak-to-peak (pp) at 1.25GHz. The output signal +20dBc spurious content is guaranteed to be better than –60dBc.

In addition to its jitter performance, the device offers a number of features to its users. This includes differential outputs, programmable skew, spread-spectrum clocking and a built-in low-power mode. Differential outputs ensure that the clock signals experience less noise or interference in their transmission over long distances or in harsh conditions.
