The IR3310STRL PMIC solution is integrated in a monolithic package designed to enable improved power management and distribution for applications such as mobile phones, tablets, wearable devices and other consumer electronics. The solution consists of three main blocks - power distribution switches, load drivers and voltage regulators.

Power Distribution Switches

The IR3310STRL includes two low-side power distribution switches and two high-side power distribution switches. The low-side switches are controlled by the system processor via logic signals and are used to enable and switch off rail power supply and discharge other unused logic/analog voltage rails. The high-side switches are intended to provide full load path control and to enable regulators and load drivers. These power switches are highly configurable, allowing features such as sequencing, sequencing order, and ramp rates to name a few. The current carrying capacity of the high-side and low-side switches is up to 6A and up to 10A per switch, respectively.

Load Drivers

The IR3310STRL comprises four N-channel load drivers with integrated charge pumps for improved efficiency. A current-setting resistor at the input determines the full-on current level. The load driver is capable of sinking up to 300mA of current. The load drivers can be used to drive LEDs, LCD displays, and stepper motors, as well as to switch power supply rails. The charge pump ensures efficient operation for low-side switching applications.

Voltage Regulators

The IR3310STRL includes three voltage regulators; a 1.8V fixed linear regulator, a 2.8V adjustable linear regulator and 3.2V fixed switching regulator. The 1.8V linear regulator features a low dropout voltage and low quiescent current, while the 2.8V regulator features programmable output voltage settings along with low-noise operation. The 3.2V fixed switching regulator provides accurate 2.7V to 5.5V input voltage settings with a current capability of up to 1A.
