the ISL29027IROZ-T7 is an ambient light, IR, UV, sensor that utilizes an intergrated silicon photodiode. It is composed of a CMOS compatible silicon photodiode behind an optical filter. The objective of the part is to provide ambient light and/or IR and or UV sensing to system control or feedback applications. The ISL29027IROZ-T7 has an 8 pin TDFN package, and has a dynamic range of 0 to 17,400 lux. The power supply range for the device is from 1.6 to 3.6 volts. The gain range can be set with the appropriate gain setting resistor between the gain and common pins.In order to work properly, the device must be predefined with a selection of thermal properties. A mechanical design for the device should be considered in order to reduce the thermal drop in the device. The device has on-chip gain and offset. It is capable of reaching lux range readings under any optical conditions due to the on-chip gain and offset adjustments. It also has an integrated temperature correction feature. An internal gyration dark current calculation is also available for precise adjustment of the gain and offset. The device has an active low logic input to detect daylight. Its photodiodes are configured in a PNP transistor configuration. The PNP configuration is said to provide the necessary dynamic range to measure daylight ranging from 0 to 17,400 lux. In addition, the PNP configuration allows the device to measure 0 to 570 lux with the TMC circuit enabled. The ISL29027IROZ-T7 also has an internal temperature compensation circuit (TMC). This feature compensates for the variations in current caused by temperature and enhances performance by automatically correcting for temperature.The photo current generated by the device is low-noise and is suitable for low-power applications. To increase the response time of the device, the internal oscillator frequency can be set by external resistors.
