This receiver also provides a high Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR) and separately adjustable Transmit and Receive Data Rates. The differential transmitter sends the low-speed data to the CAN bus. A dedicated ESD protection circuit is also integrated to prevent damage to the transceiver in the event of sudden surge of voltage.

The low-voltage logic core includes ESD protection and is driven by a 3.3V supply. This core is responsible for handling the initiate and termination of frames in CAN protocol and implementing the data transfer protocol. It supports both 11-bit and 29-bit addressing allowing CAN frames with up to 8 bytes of data payload. The logic core also provides individual interrupt control for each of the 3 channels, allowing time critical functions to be handled efficiently.
