The ISL3155EIUZ is a small, low-power, high-performance I2C-bus transceiver implemented in a CMOS process. This transceiver can easily be used in many applications, such as: industrial, automotive and consumer.The main feature of the ISL3155EIUZ is that it’s compatible with the I2C-bus specifications of the Inter-Integrated Circuit System Feature Set (I2C-bus) and it also supports I2C compatible analogue broadcast modes. This transceiver also has a wide supply voltage range, from 1.8V to 5.5V.The ISL3155EIUZ has three primary functions:1) Driver: The ISL3155EIUZ is capable of driving up to +5.5V at a maximum current of 4mA. This is useful for driving electrostatic displays, LEDs and other I2C compatible devices.2) Receiver: The receiver circuit is designed to be tolerant to I2C-bus speed variations such as high-density media. It supports clock stretching, START/STOP detection and has a built-in PEC byte error checking circuit.3) Transceiver: The transceiver can be used as a master or a slave device and it also supports up to two simultaneous transmissions on the I2C-bus.The ISL3155EIUZ is compatible with the I2C Fast- Mode specification and supports up to 400 kHz data rate. It can also be configured to operate at slower speeds (up to 400 kHz) such as 100 kHz, 40 kHz and 20 kHz.The ISL3155EIUZ operates in either a multi-drop bus or a point-to-point application. In a multi-drop bus, the master device controls the data transmission, while the ISL3155EIUZ acts as a slave device. The ISL3155EIUZ has four address pins, which can be configured in various combinations to allow up to 16 different nodes to be placed on the same I2C-bus, while in point-to-point applications, the ISL3155EIUZ functions as either a master or a slave.The ISL3155EIUZ also has a built-in watchdog circuit, which is useful for safety-critical applications, and a thermal monitor that can detect over-temperature conditions.To conclude, the ISL3155EIUZ is a versatile, low-power device that can be used in many different applications, from automotive to consumer.
