ISL6141CB-T is a high current Hot Swap Controllers (HSM) designed for intelligent control of hot-plug in power systems. The device provides a precise output voltage regulation to protect the system from in-rush currents, excessive current, and overstress conditions. ISL6141CB-T helps to eliminate downtime due to unexpected faults or power interruptions and is ideal for applications such as servers, storage networks, telecommunications, power supplies and industrial systems.

ISL6141CB-T operates on a +15V to +60V supply voltage range and provides control of up to 20A load-current. The Hot Swap Controller supports inrush current limiting/soft-start, analog input/output voltage setpoint trip points, power-good output, graceful insertion/removal, inhibit, and coast-down functions. The output voltage is adjustable through a low-voltage logic circuit and the output-voltage accuracy is programmable via a voltage ramping technique. Additional features include hiccup-mode current limiting, output-voltage overshoot protection, and thermal control.

The IC also incorporates a soft-start circuit that reduces inrush current both during power-up and power-down. This helps provide a gentle, steady insertion/removal process and helps maintain the output voltage within the acceptable limit. At the same time, the IC monitors and limits the temperature of the system, ensuring the system remains safe and stable during the powering-up and shut-down process.

ISL6141CB-T supports output current monitoring and faults detection. During operation, the device measures the voltage drop across an external current-sense resistor, which is then converted to an analog output-voltage setpoint. The device also supports an inhibit function, allowing the user to disable the Hot Swap Controller. This can be used to reduce system power consumption.

The ISL6141CB-T is also designed for safety with an overstress and overcurrent protection ramp-up system. This is designed to ensure that high-load or high-current conditions won\'t cause unexpected operation of the system.
