PMIC - Battery Management: ISL6296AW Application Field and Working Principle
ISL6296AW is a highly integrated Power Management System IC (PMIC) used in many handheld and ultra-mobile applications. The ISL6296AW is designed to be used in battery-powered applications where low-voltage, low-power consumption and many other features are required. Its main feature is its ability to provide a complete power-system solution in a single chip. It integrates power regulation, power control and power distribution, providing an overall power-management solution.
The ISL6296AW incorporates a wide range of power components including two adjustable linear regulators, two robust high-efficiency DC-to-DC converters and two low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulators. All of the components have been carefully designed to provide maximum flexibility and performance in a small package. This makes the ISL6296AW well suited for use in battery-powered applications.
The ISL6296AW operates from a 3.3V to 5.5V input range and offers adjustable output voltages, using very low quiescent current and a wide operating temperature range. This makes the ISL6296AW ideal for designs that require a high degree of performance and flexibility. The ISL6296AW also includes an integrated power-on reset circuit, regulating the voltage to the desired level after power on.
The linear regulators are adjustable from 0.8V to 5.0V and provide high current output, up to 600mA. The two high-efficiency DC-to-DC converters offer adjustable output voltages from 0.9V to 5.5V, up to a maximum current of 1.2A. The LDOs enable adjustable output voltages from 0.8V to 5.0V with a maximum current of 400mA. The ISL6296AW also integrates two Programmable Real Time Clocks (PRTCs) for logging events and delivering alarms and interrupts, as well as a programmable Power On Reset (POR) function.
The ISL6296AW is well suited for use in mobile and ultra-mobile applications due to its features, flexibility, and low-power capabilities. This PMIC is especially suitable for for handheld devices and battery-operated equipment. It provides a comprehensive power-management system solution, enabling fast and efficient design and integration.
