An Intelligent System Lab (ISL) 6310EVAL1Z evaluation board is a solution that helps designers, product engineers, and system architects solve their switching power supply design challenges. The ISL6310EVAL1Z is an offline switching power supply design kit that offers the tools and flexibility to evaluate, customize and prototype a given switching power supply. The evaluation board features latest Intelligent System Lab\'s (ISL) System Smart power stages, the ISL6310REG-CR, designed for applications ranging from 1.2V to 9V with up to 6A load. This evaluation board can be used to evaluate the performance of the ISL6310REG-CR in a wide range of applications, including computer, consumer electronics, and industrial control systems.
The ISL6310EVAL1Z evaluation board operates with a single ac input voltage from 90V to 135V or a split voltage of 120V/240V. The input to the evaluation board is protected against interference by a series of EMI filters. The output at the evaluation board is also protected with overcurrent protection circuitry. Additionally, the evaluation board gives the user the freedom to choose from a variety of different configurations for various switching power supply applications. The ISL6310EVAL1Z board also includes an onboard control logic that can be used to change the frequency on the fly, adjust the output voltage, and set oscillator start-up times.
The ISL6310EVAL1Z evaluation board is designed to provide maximum flexibility with regard to application field and working principle. Operating in voltage mode, the evaluation board will output a single DC voltage level. When switched to current mode, the evaluation board outputs up to 6A of continuous and regulated current. The application field of the ISL6310EVAL1Z evaluation board includes DC/DC, AC/DC, resistive, and AC load applications. Applications of the evaluation board also extend to specialized transient and pulse-by-pulse regulation applications, such as LCD, battery, and hot-swap applications.
To keep up with modern trends in the design of switching power supplies, the ISL6310EVAL1Z provides a two-phase synchronous buck topology that is capable of greater current output. The two-phase synchronous buck topology is enabled by two onboard MOSFETs that can switch up to 10V with up to 6A current. Additionally, the two-phase synchronous buck topology coupled with the onboard control logic can provide finer control of the output voltage for better regulation performance.
The switching power supply system on the ISL6310EVAL1Z also features advanced safety and protection features. The system includes software and hardware over-current protections as well as a variety of accessories designed for EMC compliance. These safety and protection features make the board suitable for a variety of applications, from medical and consumer electronics to industrial power supplies.
