Integrated System Level (ISL) 6364CCRZ is an integrated circuit (IC) containing a charge pump and two floating power transistors for producing a third supply rail. It is an integrated solution for providing a negative voltage rail, suitable for use with ICs operating in single supply environments. The charge pump has two inputs and two outputs, Vin1 and Vin2 being the two inputs, and Vcc being the output for the negative supply rail, and Vcccp being the output for the positive supply rail. It allows for up to 18V supply voltage range and delivers up to 30 mA output current with a 0.6V reference voltage. In the case that an input voltage is negative with respect to Vin2, the charge pump will be disabled. The charge pump also features thermal protection circuitry to ensure that the temperature at the junction of the PMOS and NMOS transistors do not exceed safe levels.
The two floating power MOSFETs are used to transfer the required voltage from Vcccp to Vcc. They are both compatible with 12V and 24V loads. The device also features an adaptive soft-start feature and a programmable under-voltage lockout for advanced power management. This feature allows for a slow rise in the output voltage, and prevents the IC from being operated at low or unstable voltages, thus maximizing the battery life and providing stable power to the load.
The ISL 6364CCRZ also includes output protection circuitry for a variety of load conditions. This includes providing an over-voltage and an over-current protection for the output voltage by monitoring the voltage at Vcc and Vcccp, as well as voltage-clamping of the two outputs in case of an overload condition. The protection may be used in continuous or short-circuit conditions. It can also be used in single-supply systems with current-limited discharge capability.
