ISL6549CRZR5213 application field and working principle

Integrated Silicon Solution ISL6549CRZR5213 is a two-phase non-dedicated DC/DC step-down voltage regulator module. It integrates control, low-side and high-side MOSFET stages, optimised for LED lighting applications. ISL6549CRZR5213 supports independent control of two phases with single or multiple output, and each phase can be set up for single-string LED or multiple-string LED.

Working Principle

ISL6549CRZR5213 integrates two synchronous buck controller ICs that can regulate two-phase output with one or multiple outputs. Each phase output can moreover be set up as either single-string LED or multiple-string LED. With the two phases running in parallel, this module effectively reduces input current ripple and provides tighter output voltage regulation.

The gate driver for each phase integrates a half bridge MOSFET driver with controlled slew rate to provide a high level of efficiency. Fault protection features include output OVP, output UVP, overtemperature protection (OTP) and short circuit protection, which respond through a fault pin to signify the fault of the given output.
