The ISL6754DBEVAL1Z evaluation board provides engineers with a ready-to-use tool for quickly evaluating the performance of the ISL675x integrated circuits designed for advanced, current mode switching power module applications. The wide VIN input range enables operation from two types of power sources, such as a battery or a wall adapter.
The ISL6754DBEVAL1Z board has an adjustable Buck Output Voltage of up to 5V, and a CC/CV (Constant Current/Constant Voltage) step-down converter circuit which operates in a current-mode, and supports ultra-low EMI switching. The board also offers a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 36V, allowing engineers to easily evaluate products with a higher input voltage.
The main application field of the ISL6754DBEVAL1Z evaluation board is for high power and low noise switch mode power supplies used in consumer, communication, and industrial products. The evaluation board can also be used for AC/DC adapters and high density DC/DC converters. The ISL6754DBEVAL1Z can be used for printed circuit board (PCB) testing, product reliability experiments, application and product design, embedded product design and more.
The working principle of the ISL6754DBEVAL1Z evaluation board is similar to other buck converters and operates in a current-mode of control. The board consists of a control circuit, an integrated circuit (IC), an inductor, a capacitor, a resistor, an input diode, and an output diode. The control circuit consists of two control elements, the ramp oscillator and the error comparator. The ramp oscillator reference determines the switch on/off frequency and controls the duty cycle, while the error comparator maintains the output voltage. The IC, which is configured as a boost switcher, is connected from the input to the output. It is used to reduce the amount of current drawn from the input and to boost the voltage at the output side. The inductor, capacitor and resistor work together to filter out disturbances from the input and maintain the output voltage. The diode configuration controls the direction of the electricity flow, with the input diode directing the current from the input source to the output, and the output diode providing feedback to the input source.
