Working Principle

ISL8324IBZ consists of an analog switch-bank, which can be used as a multiplexer or demultiplexer. The analog switch-bank consists of 8 SPDT switches controlled by active-high enable (EN). When EN is high, the analog switch-bank functions as an 8-to-1 (or 1-to-8) multiplexer (or demultiplexer). When EN is low, all switches of the analog switch-bank are OFF, resulting in signal separation with high isolation. This is achieved by the internal signal buffers between each signal path, which are powered by the VCC-EXT input.

Additionally, ISL8324IBZ also has an open-drain logic interface, which is used to output the logic-level signals that control the eight SPDT switches. The logic interface consists of eight CTL lines that provide the logic level signals to enable and disable the SPDT switches. CTL is an active-low enable and can enable a multiplexing action in which an input signal is selected from any one of the eight switches.
