The ISL89161FBEAZ is a dual channel 2A/35V N-channel low side MOSFET driver that offers high current and low R_DS(ON) for driving power N-channel MOSFET in power designs. It is housed in a 14-lead TSSOP package and integrates two channels to reduce PCB area and increase power density. ISL89161FBEAZ is a part of ISL89161 and ISL89162 high side & low side MOSFET driver and is specifically designed for Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) and Gate Drives applications. Along with its high current and low R_DS(ON) features, ISL89161FBEAZ is ideal for applications including AC-DC and DC-DC Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS), Power Switching and Battery Management System (BMS).

The ISL89161FBEAZ is designed to minimize cross-conduction and minimize the power dissipation in the MOSFET. It has a selectable dead time and slewed rate features, allowing to reduce the reverse current and minimize the MOSFET body diode effect. The ISL89161FBEAZ integrated desaturation protection helps to protect the gate driver from being damaged by MOSFET when it is open during high current switching.

ISL89161FBEAZ offers an adjustable slew rate control function, which allows to further decrease the MOSFET switching losses for higher switching frequency. It also has a linear current-mode control which allows the device to leverage the MOSFETs fast body diode during the off-time, reducing the switching losses. Finally, the ISL89161FBEAZ integrates two independent Drive Enable pins, allowing the user to independently control each output.

ISL89161FBEAZ also provides several integrated features to keep the gate driver and its driving MOSFET in a controlled condition. The Short-circuit protection shuts down the load current when the load exceeds the current limit of the MOSFET. The Over-temperature protection automatically shuts down the switch when the temperature rises above the user-defined limit. In addition, the Leakage Defense Circuit helps to protect the gate driver from false triggering and premature saturation of the external MOSFET.
