1. Describe

The ISO1176DWRG4 device is an isolated differential line transceiver designed for PROFIBUS applications. The device is ideal for long transmission lines because the ground loop is broken to provide a larger common-mode voltage range. The symmetrical isolation barrier of each device is tested to provide 2500 VRMS of isolation per UL between the line transceiver and the logic level interface. A Galvanically Isolated Differential Bus Transceiver is an integrated circuit designed for bidirectional data communication on multipoint bus transmission lines. The transceiver combines galvanically isolated differential line drivers and differential input line receivers. The driver has an active high enable and an isolated enable status output on the ISODE pin (pin 10) to facilitate directional control. The driver differential output and receiver differential input are connected internally to form a differential input/output (I/O) bus port, which is designed to provide minimal bus loading, allowing up to 160 nodes. The PV pin (Pin 7) can be used as a full chip enable option. When a logic low is applied to the PV pin, all device outputs become high impedance. Any wired I/O can be affected by electrical noise transients from various sources. If these noise transients are of sufficient magnitude and duration, they can cause damage to the transceiver and/or nearby sensitive circuitry. The ISO1176DWRG4 can significantly reduce the risk of data corruption and damage to expensive control circuits. The device has an ambient temperature range of –40°C to +85°C.

6. Application Information

The ISO1176 device contains an RS-485 transceiver, typically used for asynchronous data transfer. for Half-duplex transmission, only a pair of shared data transmission and reception. Eliminate the line reflection, each cable end is terminated with a terminating resistor R(T) whose value is the same as The characteristic impedance Z0 of the cable. This method, called parallel termination, allows higher data rate over longer cable lengths.
