Digital isolators are a type of component used in various electrical systems, such as electronic radios and medical instruments. The purpose of using digital isolators is to inhibit the exchange of signals and power between two isolated domains. ISO35MDWR is a popular digital isolator that utilizes optical coupling technique to provide electrical isolation. It consists of a transmitter and receiver integrated circuit having the same package type. It works by utilizing an opto-coupler in the circuit, which consists of an infrared LED and a photo-diode. The infrared LED is connected to the transmitter which converts electrical signals to infrared signals, and consequently these signals are sent to the photo-diode in the receiver.
