The IXF611S1 is a CMOS-compatible, integrated gate driver (IGD) created specifically for advanced metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) and junction- FET (JFET) applications that require high-frequency operation and low-voltage operation. It is suited for a wide range of power management applications (PMIC) such as single-ended primary-controlled switched mode power supplies and motor control, as well as automotive, industrial, and high reliability applications.

IXF611S1 Features

The IXF611S1 incorporates a low-voltage gate driver, which is capable of providing up to 2.8 A/2.2 A peak/sustained gate drive current for N- Channel/P-Channel MOSFETs. It features a small and slim 8-pin MSSOP package and low operating voltage of 4.5 V to 7 V. In addition, it includes several new features such as an overcurrent protection circuit, an adjustable auto-restart delay, and a dead-time control that achieve higher efficiency and better system reliability. It also features adjustable rise and fall times of the gate voltage, which improves the efficiency of the power device switching.

The IXF611S1 also provides active frequency jittering to reduce the noise interference generated by high-current switching. This feature helps to reduce the EMI and RFI noise levels in the area. Furthermore, the IXF611S1 includes an LED driver with adjustable current pulse width modulation, which allows for smooth LED dimming and extended LED life. The IXF611S1 also features an input/output isolation of 1000 V, which improves safety and makes it suitable for use in harsh environments. Finally, it incorporates an internal capacitor for under-voltage protection and an integrated voltage regulator for low noise level operation.

IXF611S1 Working Principle

The IXF611S1 has two main components: a high-voltage gate driver, and a low-voltage driver control circuit. The high voltage gate driver consists of transistors and a field effect transistor (FET) that amplifies the control signal to drive the gate of a power MOSFET or JFET. It also includes a dead-time control circuit that is used to adjust the gate voltage independently. The low voltage driver control circuit consists of a voltage regulator, an under-voltage protection circuit, and an adjustable auto-restart delay circuit. It also includes current limiting and an over-current protection circuit. The high-voltage gate driver and the low-voltage driver control circuit are connected through the power supply, and the output is passed through the over-current protection circuit for safety.

The IXF611S1 is designed to be configured for operating in either a single-ended primary-controlled switched mode power supply or a motor drive application. In the single-ended primary-controlled switched mode power supply, it uses the input voltage level to control the frequency of the pulse width modulation (PWM) modulator and the switched mode power supply output. In the motor drive application, it acts as a low-voltage gate driver to drive the MOSFET or JFET switch. The adjustable auto-restart delay, dead-time control, and adjustable rise and fall times of the gate voltage provide higher system reliability. The LED driver also offers adjustable current pulse width modulation and smooth LED dimming.
