IXK611P1 is a part of power management integrated circuits (PMIC) - Gate Drivers, which can facilitate the amplification and control of current for the gate/base terminals of an electronic transistor/switch. It is designed to meet the requirements of universal motor controlling products in home appliances. The IXK611P1 is optimized to reduce the power dissipation, increase the gate output voltage, and improve the electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Application Field

IXK611P1 can be used primarily in air conditioner or refrigerator controllers, AC inverters, compressor motors, fan motors, electric valve controllers, power supplies and solar power systems. It can work as an integrated device for external dual N-channel half-bridge MOSFETs and provide the interface for microcontroller or PLC control. It is suitable for 3-phase motors and features current sensing and serial port control.

Working Principle

The IXK611P1 includes two parts, the gate driving circuit and the motor control loop. The power supply of both the gate driving circuit and the motor control loop comes from a 6 to 18V power supply. The output voltage is adjustable, and it can reach to 18V when the input is at 18V. The output of the IC is connected to the N-channel MOSFETs gates, which in turn are connected to the 3-phase motor\'s terminals, forming a 3-phase bridge.

As the 3-phase bridge is formed, the IXK611P1 controls the voltage and current values applied to the motor through the MOSFETs and therefore adjusts the motor speed. As the voltage increases, the switch current and the voltage drop of the MOSFETs will also increase, so the voltage applied to the motor will need to be controlled precisely at all times.

In order to achieve this precise control, a low-pass filter is used to lower the amplitude of the switching frequency voltage and a current sense resistor can be used to sense the current applied to the transistor. With this method, the gate voltage of the transistor can be adjusted to compensate for the offset caused by the current sensing and the gate resistance.

The IXK611P1 also integrated the EMI filters and can monitor the input and output voltages, temperature, and the motor current, so it can provide a complete solution for the motor control needs, while simultaneously reducing the cost and engineering time.
