• Working Principle
  • The JANTXV1N4478C diode has two terminals, an anode and a cathode, which connect to the desired voltage. The device acts as a voltage regulator and voltage reference by using its zener action. When the voltage of the anode terminal is higher than the desired voltage, current is driven into the device by the more positive anode terminal to “clamp” the voltage of the cathode terminal to the desired voltage. This produces a current flow which is inversely proportional to the supply voltage.
  • When the voltage of the cathode terminal is higher than the desired voltage, current is driven away from the device by the more negative cathode terminal to “clamp” the voltage of the anode terminal to the desired voltage. This produces a current flow which is directly proportional to the supply voltage. The junction temperature of the device is the determining factor for the device’s temperature compensated voltage reference characteristics.
