Electric Double Layer Capacitors (EDLC) are electrochemical capacitors with two electrodes from which an electric charge is stored. The charge is separated across two electric layers: the anode and the cathode, which are held together by an electrolyte. A distinctive feature of EDLCs is that they possess a very large capacitance compared to conventional capacitors, typically ranging from 1 to 2000 Farads, depending on the electrode material.
