Electric Double Layer Capacitors (EDLC) and Supercapacitors

A double layer capacitor, also known as an electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) or supercapacitor, is a type of electrochemical capacitor which contains two electrical layers separated by a solid electrolyte. They are capable of storing a large amount of energy, usually on the order of 10 to 100 times more than conventional capacitors. They are commonly used in high-power applications such as electric vehicles, commercial applications such as uninterrupted power supply systems, and some consumer electronics.
