Electric Double Layer Capacitors (EDLC)

A JJC0E566MELA is an electric double layer capacitor, also known as EDLC, supercapacitor, supercondenser, ultracapacitor, or goldcap. An EDLC is an electronic storage device similar to a battery that can store and release a large amount of energy very quickly. Unlike regular capacitors, EDLCs are able to store more energy for a given volume, making them attractive for many applications.

The working principle of EDLCs is based on electrostatic storage. Unlike conventional capacitors, which use two conducting plates separated by a dielectric material, EDLCs use two thin films of electrode material separated by an electrolyte. This design allows for greater charge capacity and faster charging and discharging, while also allowing for higher power output. The charge is stored in layers, termed “double layers”, of the electrode material.
