Thyristors are solid-state electronic devices with almost symmetrical I-V characteristics in both the forward and reverse direction. They can be used for the control of both DC and AC power. The K2300S1URP is a type of thyristor specifically called a URP, or Unidirectional Repetitive Pulse thyristor. This ability, along with its low cost and ability to handle up to 3,000 amperes, makes the SIDAC a great choice for controlling power.
