Founded in 2008, KIT3803MMA7660FC is a motion sensing 3-Axis microelectromagnetic transducer from Freescale Semiconductor, a leader in embedded processing solutions. This evaluation board employs a patented QVGA sensing technology which combines miniaturized sensing elements into a small package of less than 6mm2, making it a compact, low-power motion sensing solution ideal for a variety of applications.
The KIT3803MMA7660FC evaluation board employs the latest generation of QVGA motion sensing devices and allows engineers to take advantage of the efficiencies of the motion sensing technology in their designs. It can be used for a variety of applications such as tracking motion and 3D imaging, as well as motion-based gaming and navigation. Additionally, this board is compatible with various I2C and SPI software and development tools, including a free download of Freescale\'s MMA7660FC Digital Motion Sense Software Development Kit (DSDK).
The KIT3803MMA7660FC board features a 3-Axis digital motion sensing device, an on-board virtual COM port, a battery-powered design, an inertial measurement unit (IMU), a comparator, a crystal oscillator as well as pressure, temperature, and humidity sensors. The board also has various analog and digital outputs for connecting to external systems. In addition, the KIT3803MMA7660FC board has an integrated debugging interface with support for various debuggers and debug adapters.
The KIT3803MMA7660FC evaluation board operates on a single 3V CR2032 battery, and requires no external power source. In sleep mode, current consumption drops to 75µA, allowing for extended usage times. In active mode, the board draws peak currents up to 20mA, allowing for more accurate motion sensing.

This technology combines a miniature 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope into a single device. Each of the 6 sensing elements detects acceleration in its respective direction along with the rotational rate of the device in that direction. The QVGA sensing technology allows for highly accurate motion sensing, as well as making the KIT3803MMA7660FC a low power board.
The KIT3803MMA7660FC evaluation board employs an inertial measurement unit (IMU) which consists of a 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, and a pressure sensor. This IMU measures acceleration and rotational rate in each of three axes as well as pressure on the Z-axis (vertical) to allow for precise tracking and navigation. Additionally, the evaluation board has a temperature and humidity sensor, allowing it to track environmental conditions as well as motion.
The KIT3803MMA7660FC evaluation board has a virtual COM port, allowing it to be connected to PC systems via USB. This interface, combined with the board’s on-board digital and analog signal outputs, can be used to connect to external systems and devices. The board also features an integrated debugging interface, allowing it to be used with a variety of debuggers and adapters, enabling fast and easy integration of motion sensing into designs.
