The KSZ8091MLXCA is an Ethernet Physical Layer transceiver for use in communication systems. It is designed for use in the industrial, computing, automotive and consumer markets, and is suitable for use in 10/100 Base-T fast Ethernet applications. Its main features include low power consumption, robust design and support for Auto-negotiation and multiple Auto-MDIX cross-over detection.The KSZ8091MLXCA is a single-chip integrated physical layer transceiver. It is designed for use in a system that supports the 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet standard and that is compliant with the IEEE 802.3u 100Base-TX and 100Base-FX specifications. It supports full and half duplex operation, as well as auto-negotiation. The KSZ8091MLXCA also includes auto MDIX (crossover detection) circuitry, allowing it to automatically detect whether it is connected to a straight-through or crossover Ethernet cable.This transceiver is designed to convert digital parallel data from the physical layer interface of the system into an analog signal, and vice-versa. The conversion is done through an encoder/decoder system. The incoming data is encoded by an encoder and then is shaped, filtered and transmitted to the line drivers. The outgoing data is received by a line receiver, filtered and decoded by a decoder, and is then passed to the physical layer interface.In order to ensure that the device is compliant with the IEEE 802.3u standard, it includes two primary components. The first component is a microcontroller, which is used to keep track of the auto-negotiation process and multiple cross-over detection. The second component is a full analog signal processing circuit, which is used to convert the incoming data into an analog signal. Additionally, this component also includes advanced equalizer and signal shaping technology. This technology allows for operation at maximum data rates over varying signal-to-noise ratios.
