The KSZ8061RNBW is a single-chip Physical Layer Transceiver (PHY) solution designed for applications in the 100BASE-TX/FX Ethernet-based communications markets. This device supports both 100BASE-TX twisted-pair (TP) and 100BASE-FX-Fiber Optic (F-O) connections by supplying the necessary link information between the Media Access Controller (MAC) and the physical media. The KSZ8061RNBW operates in either 100Mbps half-duplex mode with IEEE 802.3x flow control or in 100Mbps full-duplex mode. The KSZ8061RNBW also includes an internal analog Front End (AFE) which provides the digital signal conditioning blocks and Transceiver Driver (TxDrv). The AFE implements an off-chip high-speed comparator for signal detection, as well as a PHY-controlled clock generator in addition to the on-chip clock. The TxDrv is responsible for generating the appropriate signal amplitude and slew rate to meet the requirements of the IEEE 802.3 specification.

The KSZ8061RNBW has an on-board 10/100Mbps PHY interface which supports both MII and RMII modes. This PHY interface provides a direct connection for the low-speed lines of the MAC, eliminating the need for external signal conditioning components. It also features a dedicated LED control output that can be used to drive one or more LEDs through an external voltage source.

To ensure reliable operation in noisy or crowded environments, the KSZ8061RNBW includes an enhanced noise rejection feature which can detect and filter out any unwanted noise signals that may interfere with normal operation. This enhances signal integrity and reduces Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) in operation.
