L6004F32 Application Field and Working Principle

This breakdown causes a large current flow, which then causes almost instantaneous breakdown of the junction region, allowing the flow of current in both directions.

The device can be triggered by an external control signal, which is applied to the third terminal (i.e. the gate terminal). When the control voltage is applied to the gate terminal, the device is triggered and allows current to flow in both directions. The magnitude of the current through the device is proportional to the voltage applied to the gate terminal.
