The L6920D is a versatile voltage regulator integrated circuit (IC) designed for a wide range of applications in the switch mode power supply (SMPS) industry. It features an adjustable output voltage range of 1.8 - 20 V, few external components, an on-board error amplifier, and a high performance operational amplifier. The L6920D is suitable for use in DC/DC converters, battery powered systems, solar applications, and limited off-line power supplies.

The L6920D consists of a buck boost switching regulator with an adjustable output voltage range. It utilizes Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), a widely used modulation technique, to control the switched mode power converter. The output voltage can be adjusted by controlling the on-time of the switching cycles. The switching frequency is set by the internal oscillator and is typically around 100 KHz. The internal error amplifiers are used to provide the necessary feedback to regulate the output voltage.
