The L78S09CV is an integrated linear voltage regulator designed for a wide range of applications. It offers an excellent solution for cost-saving, space-saving and power-saving in power switching and control circuits. The L78S09CV integrated circuit comprises three series modes of operation which include a current-limiting, adjustable voltage-limiting and thermal-shutdown mode of operation. Additionally, the L78S09CV integrates a low on-voltage drop voltage regulator capable of sourcing up to 750mA with an adjustable output voltage ranging from 1.235V and up to 37V.

The L78S09CV integrated linear voltage regulator can provide a fixed output voltage with just one resistor and is particularly suitable for applications where space is limited. Its internal structure includes a built-in series pass regulator and reverse-sourced protection to protect against input power reversal, over-current, and short-circuit. The L78S09CV is also designed with a thermal protection shutdown to prevent the device from overheating.

The L78S09CV uses a pass element in its linear voltage regulator. The pass element is designed to permit a current to flow through it and it controls the flow of current by adjusting the voltage at the output of the device.
