Terminals - Rectangular Connectors

LCA2/0-12-TL are two-row, 12-position, heavy duty terminal blocks for demanding applications. Constructed with a variety of mounting methods, these blocks accept double connectors, such as those used on electric power lines, signal conductors and terminal strips.

The blocks are made of rigid die-cast aluminum and feature two rows of 12 terminal blocks, each with a gold-plated nickel contact. Each block can accept up to two 12 gauge and/or two 14 gauge conductors. The inside of each block is insulated with a synthetic resin that acts to limit the flow of current, and a metal cover fits over the top of each block to protect it from accidental contact.

These blocks are intended for use in a wide variety of applications, such as power distribution and control, process automation, and industrial inductive heating equipment. They are also suitable for use in air handling equipment, such as air compressors and air conditioners, and are useful for connecting cables and wiring when space is at a premium.

Working Principle

The LCA2/0-12-TL terminal block works on a simple principle. The two rows of terminal blocks are connected to two source terminals at the end of the block – the positive terminal and the negative terminal. When electricity is applied to the block, it creates a magnetic field around the terminals that causes the terminals to move, pushing the attached conductor away from the terminal. This movement allows the conductor to pass through the block without contacting the terminal, which eliminates the risk of short-circuiting.

The LCA2/0-12-TL terminal block is designed to withstand heavy-duty use, with an understanding that some applications will require the connection and disconnection of multiple conductors over an extended period of time. Its durable construction features a heavy-gauge metal cover with a baked-on enamel coating to protect the block from corrosion and to ensure that it remains reliable in challenging environments.
