LCD250-12-X

Rectangular connectors, often known as pin and socket connectors or simply as pins and sockets, are used to connect two pieces of electronic equipment. The components involved in such a connection are usually pins, also known as pins or male connectors, and sockets, also referred to as female connectors. The most common connectors are single line rectangular connectors, referred to as “LCD250-12-X”, that are made for easy plug and play style applications. They are designed to provide reliable interconnects for low current (0 -12A) applications.

Applications

LCD250-12-X connectors are mainly used in the fields of home appliance, computer equipment, office automation equipment, testing instruments, crystal oscillators, and other low-power electromechanical device. The most common application of these connectors is in the wiring of computers, extra photosensitive devices, and external control boxes, although they could be used with any low current device.

Working Principle

A LCD250-12-X connector consists of a male pin which is usually surrounded by a round flexible metal spring contact for providing electrical connection. The pin is inserted into a female socket in order to establish a connection between two electronic components. When the pin is inserted into the female socket, the spring contact will make an electrical connection between the entire assembly, allowing an electrical circuit to be completed.

When the connector is pulled out, the spring contacts will open, allowing the circuit to become inactive. In order to secure the pin in the female socket, a mechanism such as a lever, or latch, is usually provided to the female socket. This lever will add tension to the spring contacts so that the connection will stay secure even when loads are applied.
