The LD29300D2T18R is composed of two main parts, the main voltage regulator and the over-current protection circuit. The main voltage regulator consists of an internal voltage reference and operational amplifier, which regulate the output voltage through feedback control. When the input voltage exceeds the reference voltage, the operational amplifier increases its current output, bringing the output voltage back to the reference value. This process is cyclical and thus, the output voltage is maintained at all times. When the input voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the current output is decreased, balancing the output voltage.
The over-current protection circuit ensures the maximum current output of 1.8A. Any larger current is reduced by an internal MOSFET, which limits the current output. As a result, an over-current alert is initiated and the load current is automatically reduced to a safe level.
