LD29150P2T33R is a three-terminal linear variable voltage regulator designed primarily for adjusting, or holding, a factory supplied constant-voltage circuit. This linear voltage regulator is designed to adjust the output voltage to the desired level. The LD29150P2T33R is capable of operating over a wide range of input and output voltages, allowing it to be used in a wide variety of applications.The LD29150P2T33R is based on a classic linear voltage regulator topology, incorporates a robust feature set, and includes protections such as over-voltage, reverse-polarity, and reverse-current protection, as well as thermal shutdown for over-temperature conditions.The LD29150P2T33R is capable of delivering up to 1.5A of continuous current at an output voltage regulated to within 1.5% accuracy over the device’s full load range. The LD29150P2T33R is designed to respond quickly to transients, allowing the device to track any abrupt changes in the input supply, or the load condition, with minimal variation in the output voltage.The LD29150P2T33R is an ideal solution for a wide variety of applications, including digital and analog power conditioning, industrial power racks, automotive applications and a variety of other solutions where a robust and reliable linear voltage regulator is required.The LD29150P2T33R operates according to the basic principle of a voltage regulator, which is to maintain a constant, steady output voltage in the face of changing input conditions. The device consists of two basic sections: the error amplifier and the control section.The error amplifier compares the output voltage (Vout) to an internal reference voltage, and produces an error voltage, Verr. This error voltage is used by the control section, which consists of an internal voltage divider, a transistor and a current source. The voltage divider, which is comprised of resistors, creates a reference voltage, Vref, which is compared to the error voltage Verr in the control transistor.When Verr > Vref, the control transistor turns on and current is passed through the output transistor. This increases the output voltage, Vout, until it reaches the desired value. When Verr < Vref, the control transistor turns off and no current is passed through the output transistor. This reduces the output voltage, Vout, until it reaches the desired value.The LD29150P2T33R uses a power-saving feature known as low-power dropout (LPDO) which reduces the quiescent current (I quiescent ) drawn for devices when operating in the low dropout region. When the input voltage (Vin) drops below about 1.2V below the output voltage, the LPDO mode is activated and I quiescent is reduced to a fraction of the normal operating current.The LD29150P2T33R is a feature-rich, robust device which provides a stable, adjustable output voltage over a wide range of input voltages. The device has several protections including over-voltage, reverse-polarity, reverse-current, and thermal shutdown protection which make the device an ideal solution for a variety of applications. Thanks to its low quiescent current and LPDO mode, this linear voltage regulator is an ideal energy-saving solution, making it an ideal choice for power-sensitive applications.
