LD6815TD/28P,125 Application Field and Working Principle

The LD6815TD/28P,125 is a low dropout linear voltage regulator. It is part of a family of Voltage Regulators (VRs), specifically belonging to PMIC - Voltage Regulators - Linear category. These Linear Voltage Regulators (LDOs) provide low output voltage ripple, high input-output voltage differential, fast response time and low quiescent current in a small, easy to use package.The LD6815TD/28P,125 offers full adjustability of the output voltage through its Enable input. Its output voltage range is between 0.5V to 28V and it is capable of providing up to 125mA of load current with a junction temperature up to 125oC. The LDO is ideal for driving low power voltage sensitive components in a wide variety of applications from telecommunications, automotive, computing, industrial, and consumer electronic systems.The LD6815TD/28P,125 consists of an external resistor (R1) connected to the ENABLE input of the device and a power MOSFET regulated linear voltage regulator. It has an internal Under Voltage Lock Out (UVLO) circuit which prevents it from operating when the input voltage is too low. The operating voltage range is 0.8V to 28V.The LD6815TD/28P,125 provides stable, low dropout output voltage. An optimized combination of low on-resistance and low dropout voltage ensures regulation of output voltage with minimal power loss. The device is short circuit and over-temperature protected and is available in space and cost saving SOT-23-5 package.The internal MOSFET supplies the current to the output while the input voltage is supplied to an adjustable high side current mirror. When the Enable pin is pulled low, the current mirror turns on and the output is regulated to the externally set voltage. The current mirror also sets the amount of current from the input and sets the Drop Out voltage of the regulator.The LD6815TD/28P,125 is designed for use as a multiple output generator for a wide range of applications. The output voltage level can be set between 0.5V to 28V by connecting an external resistor divider from the output. The device is capable of providing up to 125mA of load current and its junction temperature range is from -40oC to +125oC. The output voltage accuracy is within ± 2% for a load current of 20mA.The LD6815TD/28P,125 is an ideal solution for applications requiring compact low voltage power supplies with high power density. It is also suitable for powering low voltage analogue and digital circuits requiring fast transient response, low output voltage ripple, high input-output voltage differential and low power loss. Its multi-channel architecture enables multiple output generators to be cascaded and used in parallel to provide a high output power.The LD6815TD/28P,125 offers a simple and cost effective solution for powering low voltage applications with high power density, low regulation error and fast transient response. Its low dropout voltage and high input-output voltage differential make it especially suitable for applications where space is restricted.
