It is well suited for driving sensitive audio components and LED displays, as well as for board-level power supply regulation, voltage reference, post regulation, servo control and industrial/ aerospace applications.Applications that are not recommended for use include high-reliability control systems (i.e. medical, military), high-voltage ripple current, and automotive applications.Working Principle:The LD6816CX4/28H,315 is designed to deliver a nominal output voltage of either 4V or 28V, depending on the output voltage required by the user. The voltage setting is typically provided by a single resistor, which sets the voltage level of the regulator. An internal Zener diode and bipolar transistor are used to regulate the output voltage.A comparison amplifier is used to sense the VOUT voltage and the output voltage set by the voltage setting resistor. If VOUT is greater than VREF, then the output voltage is decreased; if VOUT is less than VREF, then the output voltage is increased.The output voltage is also monitored by a voltage divider to ensure that it stays within the correct range. The LD6816CX4/28H,315 also provides over-current protection, as well as a thermal shut down feature.
